Fixation of belief!?

As we walk through our daily life we are always thinking about something, or perhaps many things.  Consider this:Prov 4:26  Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
Prov 4:27  Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
In an article about “The Fixation of Belief” by Charles Sanders Pierce much consideration is given to “logical thought” to bring man to “one true conclusion”.  However, as is brought forth in this article review by Brett Clippingdale, mans own ability to perceive is in question.

“Pierce’s argument that “by taking advantage of the laws of perception, we can ascertain by reasoning how things really are” demands deeper analysis. Since he argues our perception is based on our senses, the wholeness of any reality may or may not elude us, and so we can only infer how they affect what we are aware of, either through measurement or reflection. Thus, the “one true conclusion,” not being whole, may not be true, either. Clearly the scientific method is of great use, especially in the healing arts, such as the fields of medicine and environmental science. But that it is so useful does not make it absolute, does not give any final conclusions about our existence, whether in science or as it is applied to questions of ethics, metaphysics or any other branch of philosophy. It is important to remember that our very conceptions and approach to all our methods of understanding fail Pierce’s demand for “something upon which our thinking has no effect,” since the conception itself is a product of our thinking. A world-view that separates subject from object ignores that the cosmos may well be more than the sum of its parts. This sort of world-view attempts to frame and define an infinite cosmos within the limits of our own meager capacity for understanding. We are but a small part of an infinitely larger whole, and our small minds cannot possibly grasp its entirety.”

I am convinced mankind perceives he has a better way, which doesn’t include God, and he is doing everything in his power to conceive it in to existance.  To arrive at the “one true conclusion” mankind not only uses his sensible factors, but also his political associations.  For those who use their sensible mind to be sober and follow the Lord Jesus Christ and their political associations to further His cause I feel compelled to encourage you: Consent only to the wholesome words of our Lord Jesus Christ!  Let his ways be established in your life as you walk along.

1 Tim 6:11-19

But thou, O man of God, flee these things; (doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.) and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
 Which in his times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

God bless you!!!
