Death-is-Sleep Page Updated
March 25th, 2009 by Sean

We have recently added some new resources to our Death-is-Sleep page. Previously we had three sections: (1) Audio (2) Articles (3) Videos. Now we have five sections. This was done by taking some of the articles out that were really books and putting them with a couple of new ones into a new section called “Online Books.” Then, we added another new section called “Books for Purchase,” which links mostly to Amazon.com for those who want to follow up with further reading. So now our page has the following sections:
- Free Online Audio
- Free Online Videos
- Free Online Articles
- Free Online Books
- Books for Purchase
Among the new items added is LeRoy Edwin Froom’s classic, The Conditionalist Faith of our Fathers, a two volume work totaling a whopping 2,500 pages. I found it on a Seventh Day Adventist website in a DjVu format (which is similar to PDF, though you have to download the free reader). Froom’s first volume traces the doctrine of Conditional Immortality from 900 BC to AD 500 and the second volume picks up the historical survey from AD 600 and runs right into the twentieth century. The work is a towering feat of collaboration and painstaking research.
Also, while poking around on the web for more to add, I came across the site ConditionalImmortality.com, which has some interesting audio files by a gentleman named Dr. Eldon Wilson. I haven’t had a chance to listen to them yet, but I am hopeful that they may become the next additions to our site. I emailed the webmaster and he has granted us permission to put them on our site if we wish.
BTW, this page only displays correctly in IE and I have no idea how to fix that…if any techies want to help…don’t hesitate
Explain this.
9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? 11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.
The fact is this isnt something required for your Salvation. If death is sleep or not the main thing is that God gave Jesus the power to resurrect us if we hold to the testimony of Jesus which was to keep every word God spoke as the truth. OT or NT. The things that God hates Jesus hates.
What pleases God has never changed.
The Birth ,Death and Resurrection were acts of God.
All Jesus did was to please His Father and He received the greatest reward for it.
If you have the Holy Ghost in you it is impossible to not follow every commandment God spoke, but just following the law wont bring upon the Holy Ghost.
We all need to work harder to provide for our Salvation and then keep up that hard work to keep it.
robert,
I have deleted your other comment because it was a duplicate of the one above, please do not paste identical comments in multiple places.
how do you give a disembodied soul a white robe?
obviously the passage is figurative expressing a point: it will not be long before God avenges the blood of these martyrs (from the time of the 5th seal)
as far as your salvation comments….we do not earn our salvation….that’s Islam
God forgives us on the basis of his grace and mercy and through the shed blood of his son
it is true that we need to persevere and obey…but that doesn’t earn it
who said you had to earned it, i beleive i clearly stated you can not earn it. i just stated how you will know you received Salvation.
you wont receive it if you worship yourself as god, money as a god, His Son as a god, idols as a god. God is God.
what i said was you dont have the Holy Ghost if you dont do everything humanly possible to please God.
Jesus set that example, why would you think that it has changed.
find all the truth, its clear as a bell thru out the Word of God.
i just posted that passage to show you there is no one who knows what that passage means or any you are trying to interpret till God chooses to reveal them.
is the rewards that God is offering not great enough that you shoud pick and choose what you will do to please Him.
would you give your life for God?
Jesus did everyday of his life, not just at His death.
this was a better place for this post, i would of deleted other myself if i could of
