“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one
another John 13:34 & 35(NASB)

The words of Jesus are very explicit in John chapter 13 so we must ask ourselves some big questions.
1) How did Jesus Love?
2) Did Jesus show his Love to his followers?
3) Did he restrict his Love simply to his follows?
4) When we see the Cross do we see LOVE?

Question one How did Jesus Love?

“Jesus was going throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people.”
Matthew 4:23 (NASB)

This was common place to Jesus spending his whole day teaching people a life saving message, and healing every kind of sickness and every kind of disease. Did he get paid to do this? NO Absolutely NOT, Then why? LOVE. He simply didn’t know any other way but to Love people.

He taught his Disciples to do the same.

“Jesus summoned His twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.” Matthew 10:1 (NASB)

“And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give. Matthew 10:7 & 8(NASB)

Question two Did Jesus show his Love to his followers?

“Then He *poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. John 13:5 (NASB)

Then Again He taught his Disciples to do the same.

If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you.” John 13:14 & 15 (NASB)

Question three Did he restrict his Love simply to his follows?

“I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. (ISREAL) “I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd. (All THE REST OF THE WORLD)
John 10:11 & 16(NASB)

Question four When we see the Cross do we see LOVE?

Jesus came to give his life for all who are willing to hear his voice!! This is the Love of the Cross!!

“I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.” John 10:11, 28(NASB)

This Brings us back to beginning if we are to follow our Master we must follow after his example of Love and give of our lives.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” John 13:34 & 35(NASB)

We Must be able by the Holy Spirit to carry out what ever it takes, we can only Love like this through God the father and His Son Jesus Christ. Lets be filled and overflow with Love of Christ Our Lord and Master!!
