I am sure we could add to some of these thoughts, but I think it’s important to consider this – not for the judgment of others, but for an examination of our own life.

Personally, I know I endeavored to live for God on my own strength for some time.  I believed the “right things”, knew when to say “amen” in the sermon, grew up in a Christian home, and all the rest – but I was not a new person.  I was simply a better version of the old version of me.  And this led to great frustration – wanting to do the right thing but not being able to and wanted to not do the wrong thing but not being able to.

But when the holy spirit came into my life, things changed.  God softened my stony heart and gave me a heart of flesh.  He empowered me to live holy and start to hate sin.  He opened up my eyes to His truth and taught me to know Him.  I hope you have seen the same thing in your life.  It’s what God wants for His people.  And in fact, it’s what it means to be His people.

Romans 8:11 – But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

I hope you too can give testimony to the great mercy of our God to not leave us alone in our endeavors to live for Him and like Christ.

Acts 1:8 – …but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”

    Good post. Thanks Victor… 🙂

    Hello,

    Thank you Victor.

This should act as a spring board to:

    1) Receiving the holy spirit into manifestation just as the 12 did when they were baptized by Jesus Christ.

    A) They were all filled to overflowing with holy spirit by speaking in tongues.

    B) They were no more full of fear and hiding behind closed doors for fear of the Judeans.

    C) They boldly spoke GODs word to the masses, with fearless candor, as 2 Tim 1:7 tells about the attribute of having the indwelling spirit of truth/Paraclete, Christ in you, the hope of glory.

    D) They operated the nine manifestations of holy spirit, with love, to proform signs, wonders and miracles as a witness.

    E) They were called followers of the way, the truth, and the life: our human, raised raised from the dead, ascended and now seated at GODs right hand, Lord and Savoir *Jesus Christ*

Nothing has changed, except the thief has stolen GODs word, killed the manisfesting of the Christ within with strange/false doctrines, and destroyed many souls who have not become kingdom ready already.

    Jesus said:

    John 10: (nasb)
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

    Matthew 8: (kjv)
26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

    Apostle Paul said:

    Romans 10:
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Tomorrow is a new day, why not wake up and re-new your mind by taking advantage of this electronic invention, GOD has allowed, so that you may not remain ignorant. KR/lhim.org has a vast archive of teachings about being kingdom ready.

    1 Corinthians 12:
1 Now concerning spiritual matters(pneumaticos), brethren, I would not have you ignorant.(pneumaticos=things of the spirit)

To be pleasing to GOD, do not stay in this catagory:

    1 Corinthians 14:
38 But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.

    To the contrary:

39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

40 Let all things be done decently and in order.

    Thanks for the exhortation.

    Timothy 🙂

What does one get when baptized with holy spirit?

The 12 apostles were the first humans to be saved by Jesus’ baptism:
Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, and Philip, and Thomas, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James, and Matthias who replaced Judas Iscariot.

Jesus promised that they would receive Spirit of Truth/pareclete and *power*.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive *power*, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:….

When one reads this verse today, translated into English, they do not even know that there are several Greek words that mean power.

Any sixties hippie can tell you that there was an electronic music group called “Kraftwerk”. Kraftwerk is the German name for the electric company or “powerplant”. Greek=*kraft*=power

Our view of the full moon and recent Mars landing show huge crators where meteors have impacted leaving an imprint. Greek=*kratos*

Dynamit, an explosive, is used in mining, construction/demolition and highway building. The name comes from Greek=*dunamis*=power

another Greek word for power is: *eschis*

*dunimus* translated in NT: (this is the *power* in Acts 1:8)

    KJV (120 times) – might, 4; mighty, 2; mighty work, 11; miracle, 7; misc, 9; power, 77; strength, 7; virtue, 3
    NAS (121 times) – ability, 4; meaning, 1; mightily, 1; mighty, 1; miracle, 2; miracles, 17; miraculous powers, 3; power, 83; powers, 6; strength, 2; wealth, 1

    *dunamis*:

    strength power, ability
inherent power, power residing in a thing by virtue of its nature, or which a person or thing exerts and puts forth
    power for performing miracles
moral power and excellence of soul

    *miraculous power, might, strength*

The is the *power* Jesus Christ promised we would receive when:

    Romans 10:
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

This dunamis power is/was evidenced by *speaking in tongues*!

One receives *dunamis* and their personal *Paraclete* when baptized by the first resurrected, ascended, human being, Jesus Christ.

By reading (this takes time and concentration) each verse one will perceive how GOD/YAHWEH has used dunamis to teach what one receives with holy spirit, and how this was/is used for the christian to *LOVE* and carry out our Ministry of Reconciliation with *LOVE* and to bear fruit. The *dunamis* is for our ministry use only and not to fulfill ones covertness.

Following post has complete verses….so for brevity of time study use it. However best is to look up verses and read with context.

A FURTHER WORD STUDY FOR *DUNAMIS*.(all of the above and this following were found and copy/paste from GOOGLE)

These actually give an explanation. I am not sure of which version these verses were taken.

    The 115 NT uses of
    Dunamis…

Matthew 11:20 Then He began to reproach the cities in which most of His miracles were done, because they did not repent. 21 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles had occurred in Tyre and Sidon which occurred in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

Wow…using the computer and internet is truly a blessing for one studying GODs word. I still use my “Young’s Concordance” and online bibles. But it would take hours to look up and then copy/paste the verses.

Here and with the other simple study….more time now to do a reading and to: HUAHB.

    Hi,

what is the purpose of this “Jesus [this] …, Jesus [that] …, Jesus [some more] ? Did I miss something, or did others also not hear him speak about God Almighty?

Anyone else noticed that he took the passage from Acts 1 out of context and applied it in a somewhat general sense which was not necessarily what Jesus had in mind?

I thought his illustration / comparison for “being connected to the power” using the Amish community in PA was of rather very poor taste … especially so, since most likely more Amish people are living a genuinely God fearing
life in their “dark, not power connected homes” than all those whatever class people in their “lit up fancy homes”

    Cheers,

    Hi

what about the difference between a Christian and a non-Christian? how is it that some folks live more in accordance with biblical principles (perhaps without even knowing that such principles are godly and from the Bible) than others who call themselves Christian and confess Christianity as what they believe ?

Is the difference really {only} in Christians having “holy spirit power” ? Furthermore, how is it that we today even with all the teaching on holy spirit and manifestations of the spirit, etc. still for the most part do not see happen in our lives and communities what we read about in the book of Acts? Could it have something to do with the truth that most (if not all) the signs, miracles and wonders which are reported in Acts were worked by the apostles rather than “any and all believers”?

Does it have something to do with what (was it “Mike”) mentioned in a different thread about holy spirit manifestations / “can all Christians speak in tongues?”/ etc.?

    Cheers,
    Wolfgang

I applaud the video and the post for emphasizing the grace God gives us to live for Him, without which we struggle in our own weakness and fail. However, I also agree with Wolfgang that when the video divides people into Christian and Non-Christian categories, it is less worthy of applause. In fact, I would go farther and say that such distinctions lead to pride and, subsequently, a fall. What matters in life is the keeping of the commandments of God (1 Cor 7:19) and the human labeling of people as being in or out of God is a woeful mischief.

    Wolfgang,

    Nice to hear/read you again.

    As you have written:

**Furthermore, how is it that we today even with all the teaching on holy spirit and manifestations of the spirit, etc. still for the most part do not see happen in our lives and communities what we read about in the book of Acts?**

I certainly remember, when we were young and restless, trusting in GOD and fearless with fearless candor. You are a legend to those that continue to agapao you to this day and hour.

The apostle Paul was just the same, manifesting the same holy spirit and setting the world on fire speaking for GOD. Even all of
Asia(near east) heard the gospel of Jesus Christ by Paul’s witnessing. We used to say he was *walking with all nine all the time*, remember.

Well Paul seams to have been led captive when he would not listen to the prophesy of Agabus and the others:

    Acts 21:
10 And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus.

11 And when he was come unto us, he took Paul’s girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.

14 And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.

Has anyone, a prophet, an Apostle, a teacher, ever given you prophesy.

Well, he literally was not only led captive, but captured. And the dynamic ministry he began came to a screeching halt:

    Acts 28;
30 And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,

31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

He still continued teaching, however, he does not seem to have had a holy ghost revival.

    You have further written:

**Could it have something to do with the truth that most (if not all) the signs, miracles and wonders which are reported in Acts were worked by the apostles rather than “any and all believers”?**

Paul wrote, by revelation from Jesus Christ:

    1 Corinthians 12:
27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?

30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

    Ephesians 4:
    11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

No! I believe that what ever, who ever and when ever all and each have the *dunamis* power ability to do what ever is needed to edify the body of Christ in love. Still(jetzt) !!!!!!!!

We were shipwrecked!!!!!! Now is the time to stop being marooned and a castaway(*adokimos*).

    GOD has not changed!

Jesus Christ is still the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.

The lack of signs, wonders and miracles is because of ignorance.

One category is, those who are *apistia*= unbelievers because they have never heard. GOD is still *no respecter of persons* as each person has the same **full measure of holy spirit**:

***pressed down, shaken together and running over over***

I have wondered about this as well. Could we ever recreate the type of community that is described in Acts? Maybe for brief periods of time but nothing that lasts.

Seems to parallel personal experience. When my conversion happened, I felt the spirit moving strongly in me for about 6-8 weeks before it waned and now I rarely feel it and maybe only for brief moments (though I still do get reminders often when my thoughts are not what they should be).

Seems that is not uncommon. Even Mother Theresa was said to be ‘on fire for the Lord’ in her younger years but lamented later in life about having lost that years before and it never returning. Is this just the way it works or has something gone amiss?

    Tim (aka Antioch),

My perspective is that the movement of the HS in Acts was a small scale example of the kingdom of God when it arrives in visible power. In the parable of the wheat and tares, Jesus says that when the wicked are removed from the world, then the sons of the kingdom will shine like the sun. Keep in mind too the apostles frequently spoke about the need for perseverance, and encouraged the churches not to grow weary. As believers we wrestles against powers and principalities that would like to stifle the spirit’s activity within us. We also still wrestle with the flesh, which fights against the spirit.

If you look at the Biblical record, dry periods happened to many of God’s chosen people. Think of David and the Psalms. David would ask, “Why are you downcast, O my soul?” yet he continued to actively trust in, pray to, and praise God even during his dry seasons. That helps me remember how I should respond when those inevitable times have come during my own journey. I don’t always respond to those times as well as I’d like, but God has consistently been faithful to renew a strong sense of his presence within me even after long stretches of struggle or *apparent* silence.

    Sarah,

in light of your comment, the question still remains: Why is it that we today do not see what we read in the book of Acts (and, please note, just about all folks, even those who teach and claim to walk by the manifestations of holy spirit, agree that what we see today is by en large not what is recorded in Acts) ?
Did those believers then not have the same or similar times of tribulation and hardship, etc. as believers today encounter? Were they somehow different from us today? Or were the apostles the ones who worked the miracles, etc … and we today just do no longer have such apostles? or was there a specific purpose for the use of the manifestation of holy spirit power at that time which purpose no longer exists in our day and time ?

Sure we have struggles at times … but so did they, yes? Thus, pointing to times of struggle, etc. does not seem to really answer the above question

    Wolfgang,

Regarding your comment 13, don’t forget the unity of the NT church. That’s certainly an aspect of the first church that is not apparent today.

  15. on 20 Aug 2012 at 9:37 amWolfgang

    Mike,

you mention an interesting point there which may well have had some impact on various things.

Nevertheless, were the “manifestations of the spirit” the difference between Christians and non-Christians then (and are they today) ? As I mentioned initially, reading more carefully in Acts, it looks like most of the recorded miracles and other holy spirit manifestations occurred with the apostles, or in very particular circumstances (such as the record of the conversion of the household of Cornelius, or the record about the first disciples at Ephesus.

There is no “every day a miracle” Christian life-style, or what some of us heard preached years ago “all nine [manifestations of the spirit] all the time” type of Christian walk recorded in Acts, and neither in the NT epistles.

  16. on 20 Aug 2012 at 9:50 amSarah

    Wolfgang,

My resopnse to Tim was focused on experiencing the HS personally. What I do know about the manifestations that occurred in the book of Acts (healings, resurrections, joy, unity) is that they will take place on a worldwide scale during the millennial reign. Malachi 4, Isaiah 35, 60, and 65 describe this, among many other passages.
The wheat and tares parable illustrates that the wicked are in some way hindering the fullness of the kingdom from manifesting. Naturally, you’ll disagree with me. But I’d prefer to leave it there rather than debate preterism on this thread.

    Thank you, Sarah.

I don’t know that I expressed my thoughts as clearly as I wanted to. I believe the apostles in particular were given unusual HS power to administer the “Kingdom of God” during their lifetime, providing a small-scale record of how the world will be restored in the future. But almost all the apostles were murdered by wicked men, just as Jesus was. Since that time there has clearly been a diminishment in HS power in subsequent generations (with some exceptions). Wickedness and diluted doctrine have temporarily been permitted to diminish HS power until the appointed time. Paul apparently knew this would be the case:

“I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them.” (Act 20:29-30)

Tim(aka Antioch), and Sarah, first good come back Tim, for there will be before the day that burns as an oven in Malachi 4:1, in Malachi 3:18 a chance for us the people to discern between the righteous, and the wicked, those who will serve YHWH, and those who will not. By reading this book of remembrance in Malachi 3:16, and learning the truth, and doing the law, as taught in Malachi 4:4, until this dreadful day of YHWH comes. YHWH proclaimed in Malachi 4:5, that one like Elijah the prophet will come, vs.6, and he shall turn the heart of the Father to the children, and the children to the heart of the Father. In This verse 6, the first letter in word father, should be capital, and the word should be singular, (Father), but its written in plural, and small case which is a transliteration of the rewriting. For which I agree with Sarah of the peace “the healing, unity, resurrection, and joy” that will unfold of the future prophecies in Isaiah 35, 60,and 65, it will be like the coming out of Egypt with the Pharaoh in Exodus 4:22,23, only it will be the coming out of the ‘north country’ this time, as prophesied in Isaiah 43:1-9.

But, before any of this all happens, ‘first’ those of the controversy over in Israel, Zion will be judged by YHWH as prophesied in Isaiah 34:8, and in Ezekiel 35, where they in Israel today will be ran out of Israel to their borders, then ‘all’ will know, and discern YHWH, and confirmed in Isaiah 36:1-5, of His anger of the heathens’ possesion of His land, His holy land in Israel.

I did post once before that many christians say that all of this is jesus, but there are plenty of other names that are being revealed in these future scriptures in the book of remembrance. It would seem that if Isaiah was able to prophesied from YHWH, Jeremiah, and Cyrus the Great, 200 years before they were born, and Moses prophesied from YHWH the blessings, then the curses in Deut. 30,31,32, from doing idols, and of the sword upon the earth back in 1400bce, and then in Jeremiah 25, around the 6th century 606bce from YHWH, until this very day, then why is there no mention of the one called jesus, or mary, nor any of the deciples? The ‘sword’ was also prophesed as early as Genesis 25 from Isaac to Esau about reaching his dominion, prophesied until this day of Rothschild a promient jew over in Israel, reaching dominion among 500 fortune other jews, and more who are in dominion, all in this country, the US, really the world today, prophecy fulfilled. Again where is anything about even the story of jesus, or even his, or his mother’s name in the book of remembrance? All of the scriptures said by christians that they are jesus, are reading the seed of David, or David, or the servant, or the elect, but not jc, if everyone else are mentioned as far back as 1400bce of the beginning writing of this book from Moses, of what is happening in the world today? Deuteronomy 28:15-67, and 68 has been fulfilled, is another confirmation of prophecy for today.

What I do see all through the book of remembrance is the constant mentioning from YHWH of the false prophecy using His name that He did not send, or council with as taught in Jeremiah 29:9-22, and in Daniel 11:39-43 of the strange gods not known to YHWH, idols done by the people from the past, and the future until this day, of false teachings against Him, YHWH, misleading the flock. Praise YHWH.

  20. on 22 Aug 2012 at 7:29 pmLorraine

Continued: After the true chosen Israel in Exodus 4:22,23,the ‘son, and firstborn’ is put back into the holy land, then there will be a last battle from those the enemies of old until today, Gog Persia, Libya, and Ethiopia will all try to take it the holy land back, and this is when YHWH will magnify Himself greatly, in Ezekiel 38. Praise YHWH.

  21. on 22 Aug 2012 at 7:40 pmLorraine

To add, in Jeremiah 16:14-21. of the gentiles saying we were inherited lies, vanities. things that are of no profit, in vs.19, a future prophecy to come. YHWH Bless.
