2 Peter 1:2, 20 and 21 The chapter begins and ends with placing great emphasis upon the Scriptures.

(Matthew 17:1-9) The mount of transfiguration was a glimpse of the Son of man coming in glory.

2 Peter 1:16-19 The prophecies do not give a perfect light, or they would remove all obscurity, but they do shed light on objects which would otherwise be entirely dark.

2 Peter 1:1-4 All things pertaining to life and godliness are found through the true knowledge of Him.

The Scriptures contain the true knowledge of Him

We must be diligent workers of the Scriptures because there are many false prophets and teachers (2 Peter 2:1- ff).

The only way to escape the corruption now and in the future is by means of the divine nature which is revealed and made available through the Scriptures. Psalms 119:11, 105, 162; Jeremiah 15:16; John 5:24; Philippians 2:16

Precious and magnificent promises have been granted to us; therefore, we must accept them by faith and act accordingly.

2 Peter 1:5-8 Diligence must join together with our faith for faith without works is dead according to James 2:14-26.

2 Peter 1:8 and 9 Our worse feelings are uselessness and unfruitfulness which we often wrongly identify as boredom. The converse are the great feelings of usefulness and fruitfulness.

2 Peter 2:10 Speaks about being diligent again as did verse 5. If you practice these things, you will be useful, fruitful, and not fall.
