Matthew 22:1 The wedding of a prince is a very special occasion with special accommodations such as attire provided by the king. In our culture, we wear tuxes and wedding dresses.

Matthew 22:7 He is speaking to chief priests and Pharisees. Jesus is the prince, and the wedding feast is yet coming in the future age, but they wanted no part of it.

Matthew 22:10 With Israel's rejection of the Messiah, the doors were open to the Gentiles.

Matthew 22:12 Receiving the invitation is one thing; attending the wedding is another. We must come clothed with the garments provided by the King.

Isaiah 64:6 Our own righteousness is like filthy rags.

Isaiah 61:10 We are clothed in God's righteousness by the blood of Jesus Christ.

Matthew 22:12 Based upon the context, we understand that many are called but those who respond the proper way are chosen. The whole of humanity is called, but only those who respond by faith in Christ will attend the wedding. Israel thought that they were the chosen ones because they were called first. Christians talk the same way today.

Romans 8:28-30 Who decides if we are chosen? God extended the invitation, but you have to respond in the proper way.

Romans 8:29 We will be conformed to the image of His Son, that is in his resurrected form, but not by our own righteousness but the righteousness by which we are clothed in Christ.

Romans 3: 19-26

Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Verse 36 refers to Psalm 44, which makes clear the reference is regarding our love for him.

Romans 8:36 "For thy sake" means in thy cause; or on account of attachment to You. Psalms 44:22

Ephesians 1:3-14 We are chosen to be with Him in glory.

2 Thessalonians 2:13-16 Since we have been called we should stand.

I Peter 1:1- 9
