Notes:

The connection between love and spirit is threefold. First, we experience Godís love for us. Second, the spirit enables us to love God; and third, the spirit gives us the ability to love others as Christ loves us.

Romans 5:5-10
While we were in our unholy, pathetic state, God so loved us that He gave His Son to die for us. Much more, we are saved from the wrath to come.

Romans 8:14-17
The generosity, love, mercy, grace, goodness, wisdom, and power of God are very evident with the love empowering gift of holy spirit.

Galatians 5:13-16
If we walk by the spirit, we will not be overcome with the unloving deeds of the flesh.

Philippians 1:12-20
Instead of submitting to the temptations of anger, ingratitude, grumbling about injustice, blaming God or others, or doubting himself, he was thankful that his incarceration had turned out for the greater furtherance of the gospel. He did not take things personally because he did not believe lies about himself.

1Timothy 1:13-16
Love, joy, and peace are the fruit in someone who believes truth and is influenced by the spirit of truth.

Matthew 6:1-4
The motive for service is vital. We should have a godly purpose in all that we do.

1John 4:9-11; 19
Love for others has two important aspects ‒ first, we must have the right heart behind our deeds of service. Second, works or deeds must also accompany the right motives.

1John 3:16-18
Thinking about loving others or only having good intentions is not enough.

1Corinthians 13:13
