Notes:

Ephesians 3:13-21 - The backbone of this prayer is the faith God generates by emphasizing: 1) His relationship, 2) His unlimited resources, and 3) His incalculable ability.

3:1 and 4:1
- Paul’s physical incarceration was distressing for the church he influenced so much. However, imprisonment afforded Paul opportunity to pray.

14
- The prayer is in view of all he communicated between verses 1 and 14 plus a desire to for the saints not to lose heart. Kneeling was an unusual posture for the Jews who normally stood up to pray (Luke 18:11-13). It was the manifestation of humility, submission, and reverence.

15
- We are family praying to our Father who happens to be Almighty God about His eternal purpose. Remember "if you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven….”

16
- The heavens tell of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of his hands (Psalm 19:1). The whole earth is full of His glory (Isaiah 6:3). Moses asked, “Show me Your glory” (Exodus 34:6 and 7). Jesus, in Hebrews 1:13, is the radiance of His glory. Ephesians and Colossians reveal that the mystery with the inclusion of the Gentiles and Christ in us is also a part of His glory.

Philippians 4:19
“My God will supply … His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

1Corinthians 4:16 ; Ephesians 4:22-24
- We ask our heavenly Father according to the riches of His glory for strength so that Christ can dwell within our hearts.

17
– Being “rooted and grounded in love” coincides with Christ being in our control center.

18
– With Christ in mind, embedded in love, we may comprehend with others that which is beyond human understanding.

19
– We need God’s help

20
– His unlimited ability encourages faith and praise for Him.

21
– To Him be glory (1:6, 12, and 14).

Ephesians 4:1-3
- The fulfillment of the prayer is the only possible way to have harmony in the home.
