Notes:

2 Kings1:1-4 Ahaziah's mother was Jezebel, a devout Baal worshipper. His grandfather was Ethbaal, the high priest of Baal, and his father, the king of Israel, was also a Baal worshipper.

Deuteronomy 6:1-15 The primary law of God is YAHWEH IS OUR GOD, YAHWEH IS ONE

To understand the Bible rightly, we must of necessity understand God's basic laws and the fundamental truths that are consistent through the Bible.

2 Kings 2:5-18

Exodus 34:6-7 YAHWEH is compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, abounding in lovingkindness and truth, keeps lovingkindness for thousands, forgives, yet punishes the guilty.

Deuteronomy 32:3-4 Yahweh is just in all His ways with no injustice.

Psalms 99:1-5; 145:17; 89:14 God is just and equitable.

2 Kings 2:1-14 Some wrongly conclude that Elijah was taken into heaven where he has been ever since.

Romans 8:29; Colossians 1:15 and 18; Revelations 1:5 Jesus is the first human to receive eternal life. Those of faith gain eternal life at the resurrections, and no one other than Jesus has direct access to God until the end when Paradise is reestablished.

Malachi 4:4-6 Prophecy regarding John the Baptist

Matthew 11:13-15; 17:1-13

James 5:16-18 Elijah is an example of faith and prayer.
