2 Corinthians 5:14-21 – Jesus gave himself a sacrifice for us so that we can now live as a sacrifice for him and for God.

Romans 12:1
– Your holy sacrifice that is acceptable to God and is spiritual service of worship is living for Him and no longer for self.

– The how of living for Him is not be conformed but transformed by the renewing of the mind.

– The how of renewing the mind is thinking the right way.

– Serving others is part of our worship of God.

– Live love and steer clear of selfishness and worldliness.

Hebrews 13:10
– “Altar” by metonymy is used of the sacrifice of Christ. The Jews were still offering animal sacrifice, not understanding or accepting the sacrifice of Christ. Due to their unbelief, they had no right to eat.

– Exodus 29:14; Leviticus 4:1-12; 16:27 What happened under the old covenant was a temporary solution for their sin and an example/type for Christ.

– To the Jews, he is saying to leave the city and the old sacrifices connected with the old covenant and accept Christ’s sacrifice. Leave the old, even if there is reproach. For non-Jews, leave the old life, get outside the city, the life that everyone else is still involved in.

– Everything here and now will come to an end, but there is a city coming in the future.

– The true and appropriate sacrifice today is that of praise, thanks, doing good, and sharing.

1 Peter 2:5-12
– We do not offer animal sacrifices but spiritual sacrifices. We proclaim the excellencies of Him. We praise Him, thank Him, and tell others of His greatness.

Philippians 4:10-20
The sacrifice of giving is well-pleasing to Yahweh.
