Luke 8:13 Throughout our lives, there will be times of temptation. Many people give in to temptation and fall away.

Matthew 6:13 and Luke 11:4 Jesus instructs us to pray daily with regard to temptations.

1 Corinthians 10:13 Temptations can be so powerful and deceiving that we conclude we cannot stand against them. We can lose faith and the heartiness (courage and energy) to withstand. We are especially susceptible to this fatalistic mind-set when we try to conquer temptation with our own limited ability.

James 1:2-4 The "wants" torment us and tempt us to fill our own desires, which most often are sinful.

James 1:5-12 We are richly rewarded when we withstand temptation.

James 1:13-21 Correctly identifying the temptation is fundamental, and bringing the Word of truth to it is how Jesus withstood the devil.

Matthew 4:1-11 Jesus provides the mold we are to follow in our own time of temptation.

James 1:22-25 We must be doers of the Word and not hearers only.

Hebrews 2:17 and 18 Jesus went through all the things he did without sinning which means he knows how to withstand temptation. Also, now as our High Priest, he is willing and able to help us. "Succour" [succor] means run to help in the time of need.

Hebrews 4:14-16 "Boldly" is openly, frankly, without concealment, having free and fearless confidence. Finding the right person for the need at hand with the willingness to help is always a challenge. Jesus is the right and willing one for the job. The question then becomes: "Are we willing to ask for his help?"

2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knows how to deliver the godly from temptations.
