The Scriptures Contain God’s Word And Will

The Bible comprises God’s Word and will. Everything we need to know pertaining to life and godliness come through God’s true knowledge found in the Scriptures.

2 Peter 1:2-3   Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;

seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.

The Bible reveals God’s nature, His purposes, His plans, and His ways. The Bible is primarily a book not about individuals and their relationship with God rather about God’s purposes and His relationship with humanity that encompass the past, present, and future.

What God purposes and plans as outlined in the Scriptures will certainly come to pass. God is not a man that He should lie; rather, He has excellent integrity assuring His promises are true and trustworthy.

Isaiah 14:24, 27   Yahweh of hosts has sworn saying, “Surely, just as I have intended so it has happened, and just as I have planned so it will stand,

For Yahweh of hosts has planned, and who can frustrate it? And as for His stretched-out hand, who can turn it back?

Isaiah 46:9 and 10   ….For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, ‘My purpose will be established, and I will accomplish all My good pleasure.

Psalm 33:11 (NIV)   The plans of Yahweh stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations.

Whether we believe or reject the Scriptures and God’s purpose for the ages has no influence on its veracity or fulfillment. However, our believing has everything to do with our accepting God’s love and His invitation to participate in His Kingdom. To be a part of God’s love story, we are required to exercise our free will to pursue God.

Free Will – You Must Decide

God’s love is extended to the world, but not everyone accepts it. Matthew 22:14 says it well: “For many are called, but few are chosen.” Those who answer the call become the chosen. God loves you and called you to join Him in the purpose of the ages. Will you respond? Jesus states this immutable principle in Matthew 5:6 – “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” The person who is hungry for Mexican food will go to Chipotle Mexican Grill, and those who are hungry for Italian food go to an Italian restaurant, and so on. What is your appetite? If you hunger and thirst for God’s right ways, you will come to Him. You must determine your own appetite and then pursue God. Note another great promise Jesus spoke in the Sermon of the Mount:

Matthew 7:7-11   Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone?

Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he?

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!

God has always wanted a love relationship with people, and throughout history, the Scriptures reveal that those who sought Him also found Him. God told Asa, the king of Judah, this very simple and necessary principle. If we seek God, we will find Him.

2 Chronicles 15:2-4   Listen to me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: the LORD is with you when you are with Him. And if you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.

For many days Israel was without the true God and without a teaching priest and without law.

But in their distress they turned to Yahweh God of Israel, and they sought Him, and He let them find Him.

Scriptures reveal the many precious and magnificent promises God grants to those who seek Him. The greatest of all is a love relationship with God that is real, personal, and everlasting.

Deuteronomy 4:29   But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul.

Proverbs 8:17   I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.
