Spirit Enablement

I Corinthians 2:1 Referring to Chapter 1:18-31. Not man's speech or wisdom

Verse 2 Two things which cover the entire gospel message: Jesus the Christ, and Him crucified.

Verse 3 Acts 18 records Paul's time with them in Corinth.

I Corinthians 2:4 Paul's message was not from his own intellect or wisdom rather the guidance of the spirit.

Verse 7 God had a plan from Genesis 3:15, right after the fall.

Verse 8 The rulers of this age responsible for his death were Annas, Caiaphas, Herod and Pilate, plus the devil and his cohorts.

Verse 9 Isaiah 64:4

The Spirit of Truth (John 14-16)

John 14:16 Substitute for Christ. "Paraclete" - advocate, counselor, helper, succourer, aid, assistant. With the believer forever (until the age).

John 14:17 Abides in the believer

John 14:18 Enables Christ to come to the believer so that we are not orphans (alone, abandoned, cast-off, forsaken, unparented, ignored, neglected, slighted).

Verse 20 Enables us to know the oneness relationship that Christ has with the Father and we have with Christ.

Verse 23 Enables God and Christ to make their abode with us.

Verse 26 Teach us all things (bring us into a deeper knowledge of truth). Bring to remembrance all that Jesus said.

John 15:26 Will testify (bear witness) about Christ

John 16:7 More advantageous for the believer then the present Christ

John 16:9 Convicts the world of sin
