Notes:

Proverbs 29:25
Fear brings a snare. It captivates people and keeps them from action. Many people are overcome with fear and cannot do the things of God because they are afraid.

Isaiah 44:1-8
If we put our trust in Yahweh, if we believe we are His chosen ones, and if we are willing to say "I belong to Yahweh," then we have nothing to fear.

Psalms 34:1-4
Bless Yahweh; make your boast in Yahweh; magnify Yahweh with you; seek Yahweh, and He will hear and deliver you from all your fears!

Deuteronomy 31:1-2
For forty years, Moses had led the children of Israel. However, he was about to die. He would not be leading them into the Promised Land.

Deuteronomy 31:3-8
Moses reminded them that Yahweh was the one who was leading them.

And He will not fail or forsake you! Be strong and be of good courage. Do not be afraid! There have been many who have gone before us, who are now dead. Now it is our time to have faith!

I Samuel 17:1ff
The men of Israel were frozen with fear. The giant that stood before them, mocked them, challenged them, and caused them to become afraid. But the young man David did not look at the circumstances or the doubts surrounding him. Rather, he declared the name of Yahweh, knowing that God would not fail or forsake him.

God promised He would pour out His spirit upon all flesh, and this happened at Pentecost. 50 days before, at the time of the crucifixion, Peter couldn't even acknowledge that he knew Jesus. On the day of the resurrection, he was with the other apostles behind closed doors for fear of the Jews (John 20:19). However, once he was filled with the holy spirit, Peter got bold. Acts 2:14-16, 22-24, 26; 3:12-15; 4:1-12. He was a changed man!
