Exodus 1:8-14 The Egyptians enslaved the Israelites, making their lives bitter with unrelenting hard labor.

Exodus 2:23-25
God hears the cry of His enslaved people.

Exodus 6:5-8
God promises to deliver them from bondage and give them their own land.

Exodus 15:1-4
Moses sings a hallelujah song about God bringing them through the Red Sea.

Exodus 16:11-27
God established the Sabbath with His people through the collecting of manna.

Deuteronomy 5:12-15
The Sabbath celebrates liberation from slavery.

Leviticus 25:3-23
The land enjoyed rest every seven years.

Leviticus 26:2-5, 10-12
If they keep His Sabbaths, then He will prosper them.

2 Chronicles 36:19-21
Israel suffered exile for 70 years so the land could enjoy its Sabbaths.

Nehemiah 13:15-19
Nehemiah fought for the day of rest after Israel returned from exile.

Mark 2:23-28
The Pharisees criticized Jesus’ disciples for picking heads of grain on the Sabbath.

Mark 3:1-6
The Pharisees criticized Jesus for healing on the Sabbath.

Galatians 3:23-25; Ephesians 2:14-16; Hebrews 8:13
The Law is abolished and no longer required for God’s people.

Colossians 2:13-17; Romans 14:5-12
No one should judge you in respect to keeping the Sabbath day.
