Who's in Charge?By Rev. John Cortright on 09/23/2012
Revelation 15:3-4 – God is King of the nations.
Who counseled Yahweh? Who is qualified to question what God knows and what He can or cannot do?
The nations are like a drop in a bucket, regarded as less than nothing and meaningless.
He reduces rulers to nothing. God is in charge. He is sovereign over all the nations.
The potter has the power over the clay.
The Devil’s Temporary Control
Luke 4:5-6 The devil has been handed dominion over the kingdoms of this world. He gives this to whomever he wants. (I Corinthians 4:4 – “The god of this world;” Ephesians 2:2 – “the prince of the power of the air”) Ephesians 6:12 – spiritual forces are at work behind what we see in the senses realm.
Job 1:6-12; Daniel 10:10-13, 20-21; I Kings 22:11-23; II Kings 6:13-17
Through God’s wisdom, foreknowledge, and predetermined counsel, not overstepping His own laws or free will choice, working within the boundaries of justice and mercy, God exercises His sovereign rule over the nations and rulers.
Egypt/Pharaoh – Joseph (Gen 50:19-20); Pharaoh (Rom 9:14-23);
Assyrian Empire – Jonah, the rod of God’s anger (Is 10:5), Sennacherib (Is 37:16-37)
Babylonian Empire – Nebuchadnezzar-God’s servant (Jer 27:6, Dan 5:8, 20-21), Belshazzar –weighed in the balance (Dan 5:17-31)
Persian Empire – Cyrus (Is 45:1); Daniel 5:28; 8:20; 11:1-2

Throughout history, God has continued to work His sovereign will. He continues to exercise His sovereignty, and all that He has said about the future will come to pass.
