Genesis 6:1-7 Who are the “sons of God?”

Job 1:6-7; 38:4, 7; Daniel 3:25, 28 Here the sons of God are angels

1 Peter 3:18-20; 2 Peter 2:4-5; Jude 6-7 The New Testament provides more detail about what happened in the time of Noah

Summarizing What We Know about the Sons of God
1. sons of God are angels
2. they left their proper home and went after “strange flesh”
3. God imprisoned these spirits in pits of darkness until the day of judgment
4. this all happened during the time of Noah

Genesis 6:8-22 In the midst of everything Noah chose to honor God by living righteously

Hebrews says, “by faith Noah…became an heir of the righteousness which is according to faith” (Hebrews 11:7)

Peter calls Noah, “a preacher of righteousness” (2 Peter 2:5)

In Ezekiel God uses Noah in his top three list of the most righteous people “Even though Noah, Daniel, and Job were in its midst…they would deliver only themselves by their righteousness” (Ez 14:20)

Matthew 24:36-51 In the end, it will be just like the days of Noah
