Power and authority in the name of Yahweh

Yahweh is the eternal, everlasting God who was, who is, and who is to come. He is the only true, all powerful God. His name was to be hallowed. It is glorious. The name of Yahweh was to be exalted. Yahweh is powerful. Deuteronomy 32:3; Ps 8:9; Ps 29:1-4; Ps 34:3; Ps 148:1ff

The name of Yahweh is a strong tower (Pr 18:10).

• The priests ministered in the name of Yahweh (Deu 18:5; 21:5)
• A true prophet of God spoke in the name of Yahweh (Deu 18:18-22)
• David the king evoked the name of Yahweh in defeating Goliath (1 Sam 17:45). As king, he blessed the people in the name of Yahweh (1 Chr 16:2).

Jesus was given a name that would be above all others

The name “Jesus” (Yashua) means Yahweh is salvation (Matthew 1:21; Luke 1:31-33).

The prophets spoke of one that would be coming in the name of Yahweh. This one would stand in the strength of Yahweh, in the majesty of the name of Yahweh. The King would be blessed forever. His throne would be forever and ever. He would be anointed above his fellows. His name would be remembered and praised forever and ever.
Psalm 118:22-26
Micah 5:1-4
Psalm 45:1-7, 17

Invoking the name of Jesus is not magic words. It is to be a lifestyle of discipleship, where one follows the words of Jesus. Matthew 7:21-23; Acts 19:13-17

Matthew 28:18-19 – All power has been given to Jesus in heaven and earth. We have the authority in Christ to make disciples of all nations!
