11: Spirit Of God & Christ

Throughout the majority of the Scriptures, God’s spirit simply refers to God’s presence or activity.

God’s spirit is how he can be present (immanent) even while he is in heaven (transcendent).

We looked at 5 reasons why the spirit cannot be an independent person from the Father, including not having a name, never sending greetings, being God’s, never receiving prayer, and getting left out of key texts.

Lying to God’s spirit is lying to God (the Father) just as blaspheming his spirit amounts to blasphemy against him.

The “paraclete” of John 14-16 is either a personification of the spirit or it is Jesus in his heavenly role.
