13:1-3 Morning cloud, dew, chaff, and smoke − all are very temporary and fade away quickly.

13 Israel is likened to a mother in labor, then the unborn son to the mother.
The son did not come to the opening of the womb. God brought punishment [childbirth pain] on Israel so they might be reborn to follow Him as He desired, but they were foolish not to grasp the opportunity.
14 Had they responded, they could have been reborn. They did not, so He would not save them. However, in the future he would through Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:42-58 In Christ, we can be reborn to eternal life, but we must not forget Him.
Confident Expectations
We want to join God in what He is doing in the world and not expect Him to join us in our plans. To participate in His work we must have an awareness of Him and expectations based upon His Words.
