8:1-5
Yahweh humbled them so that they would know that Yahweh was their God and that they should depend on Him.

6-11

14
When the heart becomes proud, people forget Yahweh their God.

If you forget Him, you will perish.

Hosea 2:13

13:1-3

They forgot Him.

13
Israel is likened to a mother in labor, then the unborn son to the mother.
The son did not come to the opening of the womb. God brought punishment [childbirth pain] on Israel so they might be reborn to follow Him as He desired, but they were foolish not to grasp the opportunity.

14
Had they responded, they could have been reborn. They did not, so He would not save them. However, in the future he would through Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:42-58
In Christ, we can be reborn to eternal life, but we must not forget Him.
