2 Corinthians 9:8; Philippians 2:13; 4:13 – God is our sufficiency; therefore, we are dependent on Him. Our worth, importance, purpose, our good feeling about ourselves come from God, not people.

Proverbs 16:18
As independent ones, we do not need God or others. Our worth, importance, purpose, and good feeling come from self; therefore, we are controlling everyone and everything. Lust and covetousness are our normal; work and accomplishments are vital to our wellbeing.

Matthew 6:1-5
– The codependent person has people for their sufficiency. They find their worth, importance, purpose, and good feeling in how others need and respond to them. They are people-pleasers and crave attention from others. They shine in crisis situations because they feel needed.

1 Corinthians 12:12-27; Ephesians 4:1-3
God-dependent people are the only ones who can have godly relationships with others.

John 13:12-17, 34
We are happy if we hold the mindset Jesus had while washing their feet. He served without human compensation in mind. As we love each other like Christ did, our relationships will not be codependent or self-centered.

Luke 22:24-27; Romans 12:10; Philippians2:3
– Like Jesus, we discipline ourselves so that our dealings with others is not about self but about them, not what we can get but what we can give, not the love we receive but the love we can give.

Matthew 7:1ff
Because God is our sufficiency, we can love others as we want others to love us.

Colossians 3:10-17
Never forget that everyone has a self-centered nature that prompts unrighteous actions and ungodly words. If you take the others’ actions personally, then you are back to your own self-centeredness.
