Definition of a myth: a traditional story, especially one concerning the early history of a people or explaining some natural or social phenomenon, and typically involving supernatural beings or events; a widely held but false belief or idea.

1 Tim 1:4; 2 Timothy 4:4
In the books of Timothy, the Apostle Paul warned about myths and people turning from the truth. We do not want to have a myth or a falsehood be the doctrine for our faith. The Scriptures, the Bible, is our source for truth.

What is the Christian’s future after death? Be as the Bereans, and search the Scriptures for yourself. What does the Bible say about this important topic? Acts 17:11

Two Questions:
1. When people die, do they immediately live on in the afterlife?
2. After we are raised from the dead in the future, where is our final dwelling place? Is it heaven or a new Paradise on earth?

So what happens when a person dies?
Psalm 6:5 The Hebrew word sheol means the grave, or the state of being dead – gravedom.
Ecclesiastes 9:5-6, 10
Acts 2:29, 34 David is dead and buried. He has not ascended into heaven.

When will the dead be made alive?
Hebrews 9:27
1 Corinthians 15:20-23

John 5:25, 28-29; 6:39-40
The Bible teaches that the dead will be raised again to life in the future – in the last day at the resurrection from the dead.

There will be a resurrection of the just and a resurrection of the unjust.
Daniel 12:1-2
Revelation 20:4b-6 There is a 1,000 year reign of Christ between these two events.
Acts 24:14-16

What will we inherit in the eternal age – heaven or the earth?
Matthew 5:5 – The gentle (the meek) will inherit the earth.
Romans 4:13 – The promise to Abraham, the father of faith, is that he would inherit the world – land!
Psalm 115:16 – God made the earth for man! We were designed to be earth dwellers!
2 Peter 3:13 – There is a promise of a new heaven and earth.
Revelation 2:7 – He who overcomes will eat of the tree of life in the Paradise of God.

The Bible begins in the book of Genesis with man in Paradise on earth, and the Bible ends in the book of Revelation with those who have faith living in Paradise on a new earth.
