Acts 1:1-3
While on the earth for forty days after the resurrection, Jesus spoke to the apostles about things concerning the Kingdom of God. The book of Acts opens with Jesus speaking about things pertaining to the Kingdom of God. The book of Acts ends with Paul preaching the Kingdom of God (Acts 28:31).
The message of the gospel of the Kingdom of God was the message that Jesus preached during his ministry on earth.
Matthew 6:33 Seek first the Kingdom of God.
Mark 1:14-15 – Jesus came preaching the gospel of the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God is at hand, or the Kingdom of God is near.
Mark 4:1-34 Jesus spoke in parables about things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
Mark 9:1-8
Peter, James, and John at the Mount of Transfiguration were able to see a vision of Jesus in his glorified state. They got to “see the kingdom God after it has come with power.”
Mark 10:14-16
Humility as a little child is a requirement to enter the Kingdom of God. (Matthew 5:3; 18:1-4 – The phrase “kingdom of heaven” is unique to the book of Matthew. In Matthew, the word “heaven” is used metaphorically as the place where God dwells.)
Mark 10:17-30
Here, Jesus equates entering the “kingdom of God” with inheriting “eternal life.” This was the message of the gospel that Jesus preached. It was not all about receiving things in this life, but the overall concern of Jesus, the message he preached, was that which brings a person eternal life – or life in the age to come.
Luke 9:1-2 – Jesus sent out the twelve during his time on the earth to preach this same message – the Kingdom of God. Along with proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom, they were granted authority to heal and bring deliverance.
Luke 17:20-30
The Pharisees questioned as to when the Kingdom of God was coming. They didn’t understand that Jesus was the key to the Kingdom of God and he was standing in their midst. There is a period that first has to take place, and the Son of Man must first suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. We need to watch and be ready as no man knows the day that Jesus will return.
Acts 1:1-11
The message is the same for us today. We are to be witnesses of Christ and preach the Kingdom of God. Today, Jesus is seated at the right hand of God, waiting for the day when he will return and usher in the Kingdom of God on earth. We have been endued with power from on high, having received the promise of the Father, the holy spirit. This enables us to be witnesses of the resurrected Christ unto the remotest part of the earth!
