John 11:7-10, 14-16 Thomas speaks up when Jesus reveals his plan to go see Lazarus’ family.
John 14:1-11 Thomas asks Jesus to explain what he is talking about at the last supper.
John 20:25-31 Thomas won’t believe what the other disciples were saying until he has proof.
Christianity is not based on a philosophy that helps us make sense of life (though it does that) nor is it based on a set of practices that enable adherents to live the good life (though it does that too) nor is it based on emotional or spiritual experiences that add excitement to life (though it does that as well). It’s based on history—that God actually raised Jesus of Nazareth from the dead.
Romans 1:1-4; Acts 2:22-32 – The resurrection is the definite, absolute proof that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God.
Romans 6:1-11; 2 Corinthians 5:15-17 – His resurrection provides for us newness of life; all things have become new; we are a new creation in him.
1 Corinthians 15:1-ff – Because of his resurrection, we are assured that we too will experience resurrection when he returns.
