2 Corinthians 3 the holy spirit is token of the covenant. Abraham had the circumcision we have the spirit. The promise God made with the covenant will come to pass.

1Corinthians 14:1 – We must desire spiritual matters if we want spiritual matters in our lives. God will not violate your free will. Many things come up against that prevent us from maintaining such a desire. I can not over state the importance of free will.

(Gifts is used in 12:1; 13:2, 8; 14: 1, 12 which is miss leading.)

Luke 11:9-13 ask, seek and knock or you will not have spiritual matters in your life. It is impossible to earnestly desire something you know nothing about so we must learn from the scriptures what is available.

1Corthinians 12:1 God wants us to know about spiritual matters. (unaware should be translated ignorant)

1 Corthinians 14:38
– But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant. God will not force you to desire or be educated.

John 14:13 and 14
extraordinary authority and power is available to the believer in the name of Jesus Christ.

John 14:26; 15:16, 21; 16:23-26

Luke 9:49; 10:17

Mark16:17-19 Jesus gave his disciples authority to use his name.

The expression means, by his authority, or in virtue of power derived from him. A remarkable difference between the manner in which the Lord Jesus wrought miracles, and that in which it was done by his apostles. He did it in his own name, and by virtue of his own power. He claimed dominion over disease and death. The apostles never attempted to perform a miracle by their own power.

Acts 3:1-6
what he had to give was the authority in the name of Jesus Christ to heal the man.

Acts 3:7-16; 4:10
Believers have the God given authority to heal in the name of Jesus Christ.

Acts 16:16-18
we have authority over evil spirits.

Acts 8:14-24; 19:13-21
False authority does not work.
