Ephesians 6:10-12   Spiritual warfare is the idea that, behind the scenes, spiritual powers are working against God.  The devil does not stand in the light for all to see but works through deception and schemes.

Revelation 12:9   This simple equation helps us unify a lot of data about Satan: the great dragon = that ancient serpent = the devil = Satan = the deceiver of the whole world.

Genesis 3:1-5   The serpent drove a wedge between Eve and God, convincing her that her Creator was holding her back from everything she could be.  She did not resist him, and the results of her and Adam’s actions
were catastrophic.

Matthew 4:1-3, 5-6, 8-9   The devil’s temptations of Jesus attack his confidence in his identity as God’s Son.  In the last temptation, he offers to give our Lord his own messianic destiny—to rule over the nations.  Luke adds “for it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whom I will” (Luke 4:6).

Satan is “the ruler of this world” (John 14:30), “the god of this age” (2 Corinthians 4:4), and “the deceiver of the whole world” (Revelation 12:9).  He disguises himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14), prowls around like a roaring lion (1 Peter 5:8), and works to ensnare people so that as his captives they will do his will (2
Timothy 2:26).

2 Corinthians 4:3-4; Matthew 13:19   One of Satan’s primary goals is to prevent people from understanding or believing the gospel message.
