The Devil’s Temporary Control
Luke 4:5-6 The devil has been handed dominion over the kingdoms of this world. He gives this to whomever he wants. (I Corinthians 4:4 – “The god of this world;” Ephesians 2:2 – “the prince of the power of the air”) Ephesians 6:12 – spiritual forces are at work behind what we see in the senses realm.

Through God’s wisdom, foreknowledge, and predetermined counsel, not overstepping His own laws or free will choice, working within the boundaries of justice and mercy, God exercises His sovereign rule over the nations and rulers.

Assyrian Empire – Jonah, the rod of God’s anger (Is 10:5), Sennacherib (Is 37:16-37)
Babylonian Empire – Nebuchadnezzar-God’s servant (Jer 27:6, Dan 5:8, 20-21), Belshazzar –weighed in the balance (Dan 5:17-31)
Persian Empire – Cyrus (Is 45:1); Daniel 5:28; 8:20; 11:1-2
Grecian Empire – Daniel 8:21; 11:2-4
Jesus Christ – Crucifixion – wisdom of God (I Cor 2:7-8), ignorance of rulers- (Acts 13:27-29)
Throughout history, God has continued to work His sovereign will. He continues to exercise His sovereignty, and all that He has said about the future will come to pass.
